Thoughts?

I do and I don't.

I don't - because I think we should set goals for ourselves - that sometimes may seem unobtainable - striving for the best.

I do - because sometimes people want things that are impossible - example: such as not aging (people will go to all kind of lengths to stay young looking - but in the end we will all age and deteriorate). People that feel this way constantly dwell on this - and miss a lot of wonderful things in life.

Hey Toronto,

I agree with the previous answer, she has it right. That is an inhibitive statement. If I did not want something I can't have, who is to say what I can or cannot have? If I listen to people say 'you can't have that' - maybe I would not buy a house, or a car, or have a child. Maybe I would not become a Doctor when I were capable.

I say reach for the stars, stretch what you think you can do, and remove the word "can't" from your vocabulary. Just do it.

Truly you should not want something that you know you cannot have, but it is in human nature to want it anyway. It makes it forbidden, off limits, which makes it that much more desireable. To not want it is only the logical side of ourselves, which very often just gets ignored. But, if you want the thing you can't have bad enough, who knows? You just might get it anyway.

What the statement means be realistic in what you want. For example: You could ask for the moon but I don't think you're going to get it. Even if did, what would do with it?

No. I believe all things are possible. It takes intelligence, ambition and perseverance, but whatever we can dream of, we can achieve. If this were not so, we would still be as the early cave men.

Its basically true. Its a child-like response to a situation. But hope for the best. I like " Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it"

Yes. Don't waste your time on the impossible. Doesn't mean you can't dream big. Just channel your ambitions.
