Is it an age thing? Do younger people really not like getting wet on a big dipper type ride? Why did they close it? I used to love going on as a kid with my parents and find it hilarious when they got wet. And in my teens and older I still found it hilarious that someone would be moaning about getting wet from the ride - why go on if you didn't want to I used to wonder? I don't think they should have closed it - are they just running out of space and will gradually close all the older rides down for new ones that last for five minutes? What do you think?

I hate the fact it has gone!

I only went to the pleasure beach was for that ride!! i loved it i used to go on it, get soaked, dry off then go on it again!!
I have loads of pics of me n the family on that ride!! It was just a classic ride!

I thought it was one of the most popular rides tho as the queues have always been so long!

They had closed it because it was dangerous to carry on coz the wood was rotting or something it wouldn't be that bad but Ive heard its because they are making way for 'project X' How pathetic?

I want the log flume back!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach Log Flume

It's good that you are annoyed that what is now classed as an historic ride has been removed but...

The log flume was by no means one of the oldest rides. It wasn't as unique as some of the others in the park either (there are log flumes like it in many places). Although some have said it was the longest flume ride in the world, it seemed relatively short, in the 21st century, to me.

Valhalla fulfils anyone's water ride needs. It has its critics- and I am sure that they could have made some parts of its look more professional with a 15 milion pound budget- but it's a really fun ride with some big drops.

I would be outraged if they decided to remove one of the four old wood rollercoasters though. (Rollercoaster, The Big Dipper, The Grand National, The Wild Mouse). They are an important part of not just rollercoaster history but the history of theme park entertainment in general.

One answer: Valhalla!

Nuff said! :-)

(ok, if you want more, I will miss the flume a little bit, but at least Grand National, Big Dipper, and Steeplechase are there. I'd really be gutted if one of those disappeared!)

yes my friend they are removing the log flume at Blackpool.

but ---from what i have heard, they are putting something better in its place.

the reason for its removal is because they just don't have the space for anything to equal or better the big one.

don't worry, i shall think of you when i go to Alton towers next month with 15 of my work mates (+ a couple extra) going for a 'day' out to Alton towers from Sussex !!! age has nothing to do with it youngest going is 14 - eldest is over 50.

keep on coasting that's what i say...

My. you are getting old and grumpy. Next you'll be saying things like "They don't make 'em like they used to in my day!" and "Kids today? They don't know they're born."
Besides. I think at 67 years of age you look silly on a log flume....

JOKING!

Possibly not. My daughter rated Blackpool better than Disney World in Orlando. She didn't throw up in Florida, but she did in Blackpool - of course it could have been the fish 'n chips.
