Neither malaria nor yellow fever are endemic to Mexico. But still wear long sleeves and good mosquito repellant. There is dengue fever to worry about. But don't become so obsessed that it ruins your trip. Palenque is awesome.

I spent years in Mexico and central America I didn't ever take medication never got sick didn't know any one who contracted malaria I knew people that took the pills.I would say the odds would be about the same as mumps in the USA, but I am not a DR I spent off and on months in Maya bell camp ground next to the ruins.

Of course not, i live in mexico, and you never will be sick if your visit us, any where you will be your will be safe.
