I tried copying and pasting the current Object Area, but it just creates a text box. The end result I'm looking for is for an editable text box to be on each slide, just like the Object Area.

Although I have never used Microsoft PowerPoint, my guess is that you can definitely create a second Object Area. It is possible to create multiple Object Areas on the Slide Master.
