What is your opinion on ' mind altering ' Drugs?

Just wanted to know where people stand on the consumption of them and how useful they are.

Wow only one person reffered to the Rx kind of drugs.

Effexor , Paxil , Zoloft do more to change the chemistry of the mind than most any illegal drug.

I think there should be more intelligent discussion on the subject. So I appreciate the question.

I for one think drugs can be good if used responsibly. That is, most drugs promote peaceful existence, and this is good.

I'm of the opinion most drugs should be legalized but with caviats. Age laws, taxation, driving laws, disclaimers of possible addiction, support centers for help, etc.

If pot were legalized people would drink less, mellow out, and think critically of those who cause such pain in this world. Look to Amsterdam as an example of a happily functioning society that welcomes social and religious diversity.

Drugs have the potential to wake people up, on a global scale. But this has nasty economic and political implications for the people that make the rules. I guess that's why it's illegal.

Not good ! Some poor pathetic, people have to use drugs, like if they are mentally ill. But who would want to alter their mind and be happy about it. ? I am totally against any type of drug, unless it is a must. Why would anyone want to play Russian roulette with the balance in the chemicals of the brain? Look around and if you have ever been to a clinic for the depressed, you will see a lot of people who depend on drugs. They not only look different, but they act different and to the ones who lives by popping a pill, they walk around thinking they are Great !

I smoke marijuana. Not a full blown hype, just a couple tokes. I find that it stimulates my mind and makes me think critically about things. It also opens up the doors of creativity and helps me to write. However, at time, it makes me feel paranoid and lazy, although I balance these emotions quite effectively.

I've never tried anything else like shrooms, but i've heard shrooms can be a spiritual experience and many people have found "the meaning of life". Pretty intense.

They're like a jelly donut... only the jelly is like your life and God too sometimes. Although, you can't eat a yo-yo... You know what I mean??? Many of the street drugs out there now are very dangerous, HIGHLY addictive, and not even all that much fun. Exist for the single purpose of putting the poor in prison. Hiding them from the poverty and homeless stats. You are on this Earth to experience reality. You will not be allowed to escape it for very long without repercussions.

They can be very usefull, but only if you don't abuse them but use them in a good way. They can help you getting some great insight of yourself, your life, relationships. You need some time after taking them to put everything in the right place. They can expand your views, your perception and you can learn a lot from them.

If you abuse them, they can f*ck you up. If you use them do it safe, in a good environment with people who you can trust. Get some info about the specific drugs first!

I like my mind just the way it is, thank you very much. The only alteration I want to make is to stretch it by reading and learning and experiencing real life. Make your own (real, unaltered) life a joy and you won't want to mess it up with these things.
