It´s all because of our genius retired-batsman "Sunil Gavaskar". Donald and Healy said that they were "shocked after not reading Dhoni´s name in the list". There were others´like Afridi who were listed without any performance at all. And helloooooo! Dhoni has had better average than any other batsman in the whole Year. Except Hussey and Yuvraj. I don´t know how South-African would be feeling after omission of Smith. It´s all because of politics that´s going in ICC´s mind.

Now look what Speed has said: "Dhoni was not short-listed because Sangakkara had 1700-plus runs, while Dhoni had 1100-plus runs. Dhoni also lost to Gilchrist because his strike-rate was 9 runs was less than Gilchrst. Gilly´s strike-rate was 110 and Dhoni´s strike-rate was 101".

But if you compare Dhoni with Sngakkara: Then you should remember that Sangakkara played 12 to 13 matches more than Dhoni.

Now if you compare Gilly with Dhoni: Dhoni has scored 300 runs more than Gilly with 1100-plus runs, while Gilly has 800-plus runs. Then Speed didn´t get any other excuse then he said: "There were allready 2 Wicket-Keepers short-listed Sangakkara and Gilchrist. So, that´s why we couldn´t nominate him also. Along with Gilly and Sangakkara"

Thanks!

Dhoni did not figured in the ICC awards mainly due to two reasons.
1- he can't be compared with the big names such as Rahul dravid, ricky etc.
2- due to the rules of ICC a player who has played 10 or less than ten matches within a specified period can be selected for the emerging player, while dhoni has played far too many matches.

ICC awards are not awarded to players just because a player is just young and has performed in a season.Only the most outstanding can secure the awards and there are many above Dhoni, including in Idia.He will figure in the ICC awards, but there are not enough justification that he will figure so soon

Dhoni has been a revelation and inspiration for india. Also Chappel-Dravid combine is not doing justice by sending him anywhere in the order, excuse being as per team's requirement. On the opposite Sangakkara and Gilchrist have firm Batting position for long. The comparative performances of the respective teams of Kumar and Gilli are better than India,so Dhoni has to suffer.

Concerned person in ICC will be the competent person to answer this question. Even Pollock who had recommended the name of is puzzled as to why Dhoni's name has been dropped.

since dhoni could not live up to his reputation in the ODI's against windies the ICC forgot as to what dhoni had done throughout the year
for me thats a very crucial mistake as some very undeserving players have been included

DHONI SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE ICC AWARDS

I THINK SO HE WAS IN A VERY GOOD FORM

I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY HAVE TAKEN MONTY PANESAR IN THE ICC AWARDS

DHONI SHOULD BE PLACED IN PLACE OF HIM

HITTING 183 IS NOT AN EASY JOB HIS

AVERAGE IS ALSO GOOD SINCE PAST YEAR HIS AVERAGE IS 55.91 IN 34 MATCHES

HE HAS SCORED 1367 RUNS IN PAST 1 YEAR

I THINK SO MALCOLM SPEED HAS NOT ANNOUNCED A GOOD PLAYERS INA AWARDS

MALCOLM SPEED HAS ALSO PUT THE PLAYERS WHO WAS NOT INA GOOD FORM AND THEY HAVE NOT DONE WELL

BUT DHONI IS GREAT HIS STRIKE RATE FROM PAST 1 YEAR IS 109.98]

Dhoni has been good....wen someone is even better than him who then has b awarded??
But still Dhoni missed his ICC newcomer of the year just by a single point to Mike Hussey....
Did'nt Hussey deserve that??....
Hussey has been gr8 in both forms of the game.....
till date Hussey's performance is too good than that of Dhoni'....

Dhoni has done well over the past 1 year.....but he is new to international arena, and if you compare his performance to other star players like ricky pointing, adam gilchrist, rahul dravid etc......then he is still behind ...........ICC awards is a pretigeous award and only few series is not good enough.
