There are many available backlink checker tools on the web. Here are some places where you can find them; hopefully one of them is the tool you were looking for

The easiest way to check your links and the most accurate as it tells you how Google sees your site is to enter the search query
"link:www.yourdomainnamehere.com" into Google's search bar (not the address bar). This command also works for the Yahoo and MSN search engines.

I would not recommend using tools and outside web sites that claim to provide you with your rankings in the search engines as they violate Google's terms of service.

From Google's Webmaster Guidelines:
"Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google."

Type this into the search bar on yahoo, google and msn (you will get slightly different results from each one:

link:http://www.yoursitename.com

(of course put your actual website in place of "yoursitename")
The results will show you howmany sites they have indexed that link to yours.
