It depends on what you define a basketball player is..and the answer is not simply..someone who plays basketball because playing basketball means so much to so many different people. Anyone with an appreciation for basketball fully understands how complex this question is..so here is my list. All of it can be considered "arguably".
Best ind: Michael Jordan
Best shooter: Larry Bird
Best passer: Magic Johnson, John Stockton, Steve Nash
Best Leader: Isiah Thomas
Best defender: Bill Russell
Best Scorer: Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan
