Hello there Scarlet,
You do not have to worry about someone knowing where you live from your IP Address.

The only thing they can do with your IP Address is track you movement on the Internet (what sites your visting) that's about all.

Scarlet, you IP address leads to your ISP which is the only person's that has that access. Scarlet if you are uncomfortable about such things look at the link below which explains to you in plain English "NO TECH" language about securing your PC on the Internet. It gives you STEP-by-STEP direction on things you can do in all situations to secur you PC.

God Bless Scarlet and down worry... :>)

I would be leary of saying that no, they can't find you... because in the end, they can.

The IP address of your email will give them a general location (probably within a 50 mile radius or so but it varies).

That is step 1. Then, it becomes easier for them if they know your name. (which they may from your email). Then it's just a matter of them doing research and asking around. It's not that difficult.

I would alert the ISP and local law enforcement.

well... most IPs are coded just like telephone numbers into areas (mostly countries, then to the ISP region), so if that guy has much knowledge of these codes he at least can know the town you're living in.
That's not the case for anonymous IPs which you can get for free from any proxy srever's site on the internet because the IPs are coded reagrding to the comapnies owning them, so they aren't regional IPs.

They can not find out your infomation without a court order that makes your ISP give them that infomation.

You need to contact the abuse dept, at THERE ISP to make them stop.

He'll know roughly what town / borough you are from but that is it. You should contact your isp about this creep.

Yes, where you live, your social security number, your bank account number, your cell phone number, what you ate for breakfast, and I believe what color underwear you have on.
