I like having music on hold. Sometimes, if I call a place many times, I like having the same music and then it gets in my head so I start singing it, and dancing too. But I have to be careful with the dancing, because if I get too involved in the dancing I might miss being taken off hold, which would suck because then I'd have to call back and get put on hold and listen to the music again, which would make me want to sing and dance again, which leads to an endless circle of dialing, singing and dancing.

I've never called someplace and had the Minute Waltz playing, but you could get a general idea of how long you've been on hold by counting the number of times it repeats.

There was this one place I called where the music was this light jazz garbage with some guy singing nonsense words, and it was just the same song on repeat. Then there's the places that have a radio station, which stinks too because someone always picks up just when the DJ is getting to the punch line and then I don't even get to hear what the DJ was going to say and it bugs me all day long.

I hate hold music becasue it's usually droll and not fun. I don't sing along or hum, I actually hold the phone away and just keep an ear out for when someone picks up again.

A certain company I know plays Greensleeves. I give them a call every Christmas eve as a treat for the kids. We all gather round the phone and sing along. Well, since we got rid of the piano............

I dislike it in principle, because it means that they plan to keep you waiting. Specifically, some organisations try to be trendy and play irritating, fidgety music that gets me wound up - and especially if it's too loud. After a few minutes of that, I'm just about ready to murder whoever finally answers.

Strangely, if I point it out to them that their choice in music is aggravating people who are already in a bad mood because they called to complain, they always agree.

there is a way to "stream" your favourite radio station as holding music. Thats pretty decent.

No, specially when they end up playing kenny G or some other incredibly lame elevator music.

i don't like it because it's usually some terrible elevator-music version of a decent song...and it never ends...
