the bottom line in this argument lies with the family...if they feel it is right to see the death of steve doing what he loved doing then that would be the case....only they will decide and i hope if they do they charge an arm and a leg for the benefit of the causes steve espoused........i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

Hey puppylove, I'm Australian..
The thing that hurts me, and the family.. is the fact that people DO expect to see the tape, like they have a claim to it becasue he is an entertainer. That is not right..
Yes, His manager Joe Stainton stated that the tape would be destroyed, after it is used fof the coronary report, I believe i heard this was a family decision, the point i try to make to people every hour it seems on here, is that his family did decline a state funeral, for their privacy, So i don't know what makes some people think the family would release that tape,
I don't know if your Australian, But we have a show called GMA * goodmorning Australia) where there were three T.V executives interviewed on wether they would show the death if it were leaked, and it was a Hell NO! , they all said it was distasteful and rude to the family, If the tape was leaked and played on any television network, The Irwin family have grounds to sue for MILLIONS! the australian goverment and police station would also be sued, God bless that mans soul!!
Please take comfort knowing there is 99% chance that it will never be shown, Sadly.. there is always that 1% where some deviant cop will copy it or something terrible..
God bless

No puppylove, I don't want to see it either.
How sad was it watching Steve's dad? I think at that moment it all became real for me and I cried and cried.
Such a sad time in Oz. Now we have lost Brocky too!
To all those people who are asking when the video will be released, I say bugga off. You are all morbid freaks and a disgrace. How can you be so insensitive and why would you want to see that?
You give me the horrors.

It should be totally up to his wife and father. If they want it burnt (i have to say i would too if i were in their place) , then let them burn it.
It is an up close death and not a "pretend" death you see in the movie. It would haunt too many people. So in my opinion they should burn it.

I don't know, I don't want to see it, but I'll bet you we'll be able to download it sometime soon. Disgusting, but you know how this society works. Morbid fascinations with things like that - and the willingness to pay - yeah, someone will drag it on here sometime.

Its probably not up to a 'should/should not', its probably more of a 'when will they show it?' The media wont be able to resist showing it for the ratings.
