Me personally have tried on earrings before at a store but it was a respectfully jewelery store. Before you would even try on the earrings they would clean the pair with alcohol and I double wiped because I carry alcohol with me because I am a diabetic and I must alway have it with me. Personally I don't trust anything that is in the open for other people to put there hands on. Because I don't want to see anything like I say at a store before where a women was looking at some lips stick at the Target and decided to take the top of of it and try it on and put the tube back with the others ... like she didn't do anything. Nasty. Just be carefully when you go out...treat everything as if its dirty and have germs.

I don't know about it being unsanitary but it sure sounds nasty as hell. Do you really NEED to try on an earring? You can hold it up to your ear to see if the design agrees with you and you can gauge its heaviness too so why put it in your ear?

Definitely its unsanitary.. Other people do that and if their ears are the slightest bit infected yours will be too.. Not a good idea

I don't think it's a good idea to try on earrings (especially if they're out in the open for public access). You can try holding the earring next to your ear to see if it looks good. I would always try to wipe the earring with alcohol before putting it on.

i think it is really unsanitary b/c you don't know who touched it and tried it on before you. plus dust travels, if dust is on the earring then you're putting dust into your ears and who knows what can happen. besides, you don't know if you're allergic to the earring. is it made of gold, silver, copper? if you would like to try them on ask the clerk to sanitize it for you before you try them on. better safe than sorry.

This is a real bad idea you just might end up with something much worse than a simple infection.

most stores will not allow you to try them on, u could have an infecton and pass it on to a buyer. take the earring and hold it up to your ear and look in the mirror.
