Can violent criminals ever be rehabilitated?

They should be serving their sentences and participate in rehabilitation programs. The prisons need to keep their reentry rate down as possibly can. They are facing overcrowding issues. This is why the inmates need to be participating in programs like vocations, college classes, parenting sessions, substance abuse rehabilitation, just to become productive citizens when they are either paroled or completed their sentences. In the State of Texas, convicted sex offenders have the option of having their genitals surgically removed just urge their desires of molesting children. If the inmates do not participate in programs, the officials should make them do so. Overcrowding is an issue in many states and they can not afford to build new prisons. Idaho and Arizona inmates had to send inmates to other state like the Newton County Correctional Facility in Texas because they are overcrowded.

If they have killed I think not. If society wants to keep them alive and not issue the death penalty to try and rehabilitate them than they should at least paralyze them from the neck down and study their brains as that is the root cause that is causing them to do this violence. I think it ends up becoming part of who they are and after a bit they just can not help themselves from doing it. Kind of like smoking. Once you have done it once or twice it becomes very difficult to stop. You have become addicted. I believe it is the same with violent criminals they become addicted and need that thrill to keep em going.
