i want to get a tattoo on the back of my neck (a celtic symbol)...wheres the best part of the body to get one..not the lower back cos everyone has one there..

get it where you like it, not because what everyone else has or doesnt have - i agree w/you on the back thing, its very played out, i have one on my lower back but to the side, and one on my shoulder, ankle, foot & hip.. really anywhere that you like them, remember its on you forever so it has to be something you love!

The best place for a tattoo is on your shoulders so that it is covered up by a short sleeve shirt. The reason for this is if you get a tat you can see all the time people might not hire you and you cannot become an officer in the military. Also getting a tat on the shoulder it does not hurt as badly. This is just my opinion about it being less painful than if you get it on bone.

wherever is most comfortable for you. I hav 2 on my lower back at the moment, because I figured that was the best place for me and I could cover it if the need arise. It is all up to you though as to where you want it. Just be warned....some places hurt more than others (closer to bones and tendons rather on the more fatty skin areas)

I think the place you're thinking (back of neck) sounds fine...I understand you want to be different...maybe consider the inside of your wrist as well (I've seen a few people with characters from another language here and it looks really cool). Any place NOT directly over bone. It'll hurt less, and the artist will have an easier time doing what they do best.

Well, you should put it on a place that you can cover it up if you need to, but also where you can show it off. I have one on my ankle.
