Avoid getting sick at all by using the pressure-point bracelets from the drugstore. They're great; I wore them during both the cruises I went on. Just ask the pharmacist if you don't see them on the shelf.

If you don't want to wear those, you may try eating real ginger, the stuff in old-fashioned ginger-ale. Most current gingerale doesn't contain real ginger, so it won't do anything for an upset stomach. But this is just treating the symptom.

There's nothing else, everything will make you drowsy, that's why they work so well.
I suggest if you start feeling funny, go out and look at the water, the fresh air and seeing the expanse of the ocean will help.
Also never ever miss a meal!!!. Very important. If absolutely necessary you can calm your empty stomach with a alcoholic drink, maybe a little glass of Kahlua in your morning coffee, It works wonders. Trust me, did an Atlantic Ocean voyage from Germany to America with near hurricane winds, half the crew was sick and I was told be a Merchant Seamen to do what I just told you and he was right. Never missed a meal and spend a lot of time outside.
Good Luck, you'll be fine.

Transderm-Scop (patch). It's prescription and is specifically for motion sickness caused on cruises.
