I don't think that there is 1 best news channel. I suggest getting news from a variety of sources: CNN, Fox, BBC, Democracy Now, Liberty News, I.N.N. World Report, NPR. I think that ALL news sources have a certain degree of bias, regardless of what they say, or how hard they strive to be neutral. I don't, for 1 second, believe that Fox News Channel is "Fair n' Balanced". The News Hour on PBS is pretty good. Also, look for good Internet sites, and foreign news sources. Al Jazeera has launched an English-language news channel, but I don't know where it's available. I'd like to see it to get an Arab perspective of news.

Discovery channel. Things they present there tend to be true or close to facts. I consider it as a news channel. ..they present news about our environment.

I never watch the U.S News channels:
.... as most of the networks have bias and are trying to brainwashing people. Even CNN and fox , they have bias on news too. Some tend to support / against Bush. It is true that our knowledge of the world is very limited. Because our news channel filter out what they want or don't want to be presented to the public. For instance, we all think people in Iraq LOVe to have us invading their countries. They show people are dancing next to the pulled down statue with american flag warpped around its head. On the other hand, the cameraman never shows the rest of the 70% who HATE us so much! In general, we don't have right to influence other countries' politic and internal matters. And now we are trying to 'SAVE' the world by invading Iran. From other countries' prespective, they can only see us using excuse to swallow other smaller countries' lands and resources. No wonder people hate us so much now. Try yo put urself into their shoes, and you will know how they feel. Make sense.

It is better to browse around on Internet for news. I like to go to International Yahoo and check the news there. You will see editor s in the U.S always made mistake - adding their own opinion in the news. I DON't want their opinion!

BBC World News Service, currently being shown every morning on BBC America. The reason it is the best is that it is not run by an American Corporation. As a result it actually covers some news and doesn't treat Suri Cruise as the second coming of the messiah.

BBC News has the largest newsgathering operation in the world. Over 55 foreign bureaux and 250 full time foreign correspondents. That's 3 times the size of the next largest, CNN. It reported stories like the mass killings in Darfur, Sudan and the famine in Niger long before most of the US networks.

In India the best news channel is : NDTV.
It adheres to the principles of journalism which had brought about enlightenment in this world.
Unlike It's competitors......NDTV functions more like a social entity than a commercial one !!!!!

PLEASE DON'T LISTEN TO THE ABOVE ANSWERS.
THE BEST NEWS OUTLET IS by far:

www.democracynow.org

amy goodman (host) brings you as close as it gets to the truth. unbiased un influenced impartial news. No propaganda and certainly no conspiracies. all there materials are well researched. they receive the most prominent figures in their fields such as Prof. Noam Chomsky from MIT. he is a world renowned linguistic, philosopher, thinker, and activist. their news show is only one hour long, but you will be presented with the truth regarding current affairs, war and peace. plus, they do not advertise, so they are uninfluenced by corporations. you can watch the show on line or via satellite (direct TV and dish network ch: fstv & link tv). its also played on hundrends and hundreds of radio channels such as npr and opb..etc

as for CNN and MSNBC, they are nothing but money making machines. not soo different from disney or playboy channels! they try to distract the american public with obsurd news like kidnapping cases which lasts for months at a time; where they should be discussing and reporting essential news about wars, peace, massacres...etc they only tell the story from one side..as simple as that. and their guest and experts are on their payrolls!

where FOX news is satan! their hosts are rude, ignorant, stubborn, and extremely extremely impolite especially Bill O'Reilly (as- h-l-). FOX news is bush's biggest propaganda tool. their stories are manipulated, omitted and distorted. and if you do not agree with me please compare their news with other sources of online news like from europe and asia.

watching democracy now has changed my life. it re-awakend me and showed me the truth. my advice to you is to sacrifice one hour of your life...it'll change you as it has changed me.

The BBC, it’s meant to be objective world news. It’s meant to inform - not entertain. News in the US is watered down, censored, and turned into sensationalist drivel.
