Relay the facts as they happened. What's to difficult about that. Unless you are trying to deminish your responsibility. I think case you have some soul searching to do.

Just tell them the facts the way that it happened (in my case the brakes failed on a vehicle whose brakes had been inspected and deemed safe) and then let them deal with the next step at the insurance company (in my case the other person was at fault because she was speeding and neither had to pay anything). My friends just need to know that it happened not any of the details.

What you just said it was a minor fender bender and as for the insurance company goes if the damage is less than your deductible you have to cover it out of pocket so why report it to them just to raise your coverage.
