Every time I get bummed out from the crap spewing forth on the air waives under the guise of R&B, I simply dial up one of the greats, like Otis, or Wilson, or my main men, Sam & Dave. Now THAT is R&B:

Most of the commercial "R&B" isn't R&B, but is a hybrid of rap, hip hop and some Rhythm and Blues, BUT then again even Rock these days is getting melded with other genres. I heard a techno/industrial/rap song several months ago and was flabergasted.

It's more like rubbish and bull. You took the words out of my mouth with those non-singing artist. There is no originality.
I blame that Milli Vanilli and C & C Music Factory scandals. The industry decided that beauty was more important than talent. IF only Martha Wash kept her beautiful voiced mouth shut.
Also, there aren't enough producers so everything sounds generic. Bring back the one-hit wonders please!!!

It isn't its more of apop/hip hop thing, The biggest damage to the industry is being done by pretty people who can't sing, Rihanna, Cassie etc.
