I'm not a hippy or a goth and I still like patchouli scent. As for the "hamster cage" response, I don't know how anyone could find the connection.

Hey! Whatever floats your boat! I remember Patchouli oil from my heavy rocker days. Going to a Judas Priest concert wreaking of the stuff. I thought I'd put too much on but when I got there everybody more or less stunk of the stuff. Those were the days! If it brings back happy memories who cares what anybody else thinks, eh?

I didn't even know Goths liked it. Well I guess I can call my dad a Goth since he wears it.

Why do some girls like to douse themselves in perfume? Is it because they're girly or because they want to smell good...? I'm going with the latter, because THAT'S WHAT PERFUME AND COLOGNE ARE FOR. It's not for any specific class of people.

Aromatherepy oils aren't just for hippies some of the oils are very soothing and they don't have that artifical smell like the candles and air freshners they sell in stores.

It's a very evocative scent, but it must be "old" to be truly yummy. Absorbed into fabric or leather over the years, not days.

Its coming in again as a light scent not soaked in the stuff so that you smell like a moth ball though! In bath bombs and body scrubs and that. Its nice when it is used like that I think.

I think it's relegated to Hippies. I was at Bonnaroo a couple months ago and you could cut the Patchouli with a knife!!!
