I am referring to searching for the opposite sex with the intention of starting a realtionship. Whether friendly or not.
Don't you think you should be working on yoru relationship with your spouse, not online?
and if your spouse if hurt by you doing this, do you think you should stop?

All good questions. And my answer is yes to all. I honestly don't view talking to the opposite sex as an affair or cheating if it is just friendly normal conversation. I don't even mind a few jokes sometimes. Cuz I know men and women do that sort of thing. But to start developing feelings, and want to meet and still continue to do it even though the spouse knows about it and still doesn't feel guilty, I say he needs to be shot. Because if he wants out that bad, then just be man enough to get the divorce.

Considering talking to the opposite sex in person is not an affair...then talking online would not be either.

Yes, especially if it's not an emergency or business issue. Because it only means that you have some deep subconscious thoughts regarding communications with opposite sex, and somehow you are making an entrance for a chance to have an affair. It's only the medium, the inernet.

Absolutely not, talking to someone should never be a question of loyalty, but intentions are. If you enjoy talking to others great, if you are intending more, or implying intentions, such as flirting then yes, you are acting disloyal. The question really happens when its a question at all, if you are feeling guilty about something, chances are you probably feel it is an unfaithful act, but if by chance you had the unfortunate companionship of a very jealous insecure partner, then it is plausible that that individual can convince you through classical conditioning that talking to anyone of the opposite sex is cheating.

No it is not. I have a good friend that i chat with almost daily, and i do not classify it as an affair. Yes we do sometimes throw in the little sexual inudenos but by no mean are they serious, all in fun, and if you can differenciate between the two, then there should be no quilt or conflict as to whether it is an "affair" or not. If you have a web cam and are showing each other body parts , then you are having cybersex, and if i caught my other half doing that, then yes i would accuse him of having an affair

I think alot of us go online for many reasons... it may be that you are seaking the conversation of a woman that you are not getting from your wife.... maybe it is the attention you are wanting from her.... an affair ? well that is a thin line to answer... you only know the right or wrong in that one... if you feel you are doing nothing wrong then you have your answer.... ask yourself... is this something you want your wife to do....there is nothing wrong with having a friend of the opposite sex to be able to talk to things about.. that can help you to understand the way the other one may feel about things... but be careful... you many just develope the strong connection for that person you are talking to.... the way they listen and understand.... the way you wich your wife or g/f would..... remember it is a thin line.. and the internet is a way to escape....... just my thought....

Yes it is the same as having an affair and yes you are cheating. Cheating does not have to be in anyway physical. If you are in a relationship and you are talking to members of the other sex, be it online or not, you are cheating and you are wrong.

Having sex online.. words, chat and long time conversations is close to an affair
It is an affair. , more when the Chat online shifts to ON phone conversations and sharing sex.. innuendoes.
Love takes many forms. . when it remains unspoken and hidden it is far from an affair
