My first response is to say that no one "deserves" government help but there may be some situations in which people do actually deserve help. Hurricane Katrina pointed that out.

Other than special circumstances (such as a hurricane, earthquake, Sept. 11, etc.), no one "deserves" anything from any government besides the usual array of government services. The government provides police, schools, roads and many other services as a result of paying taxes, and citizens certainly "deserve" those. As for additional help, I generally think that such things should only be available in special circumstances.

Why is it my responsibility to help someone go to school?? Do it your damn self. I admire their desire to better themselves, but it is their choice and them their responsibility - NOT MINE
