Influenza (Flu) comes on suddenly and usually causes a high fever. For instance, If you feel fine when you went to work but suddenly felt really bad after lunch and started feeling hot--then it may be the flu. If this fits you, then call your doctor and have them call in one of the drugs that help shorten the course of influenza.

Otherwise, it is probably just a virus and will run its course.
Good luck

Time to get to your doctor, unless your friend is an M.D. It's certainly possible to get influenza at any time of the year, but there are other illnesses that are similar. If it's bacterial, it's probably treatable. If it *is* the flu, then your doctor may be able to prescribe medication that will help limit the course of the illness. Feel better soon!
