i'm trying balance this equation, but not sure i'm right
Balance the following equation: Zn+HCl→ZnCl+H2
will this be the right answer?
Zn+2HCl→ZnCl+H2

you will need 2 chlorine

Zn+(aq) + 2HCL(aq) = ZnCl2(aq) + H2(g)

Zn+HCl→ZnCl+H2

1.) You need 2 Hydrogen... so get 2 HCl.
Zn+2HCl→ZnCl+H2

2.) Now you have 2 Cl on the left, so you need it on the right. Double the ZnCl.
Zn+2HCl→2ZnCl+H2

3.) Now you have 2 Zn on the right, so you need it on the left. Double the Zn.
2Zn+2HCl→2ZnCl+H2 (solution!)

However, Zinc Chloride is ZnCl2, not ZnCl. To balance it for ZnCl2, it would be:
Zn + 2HCl → ZnCl2 + H2

Zn+2HCl=ZnCl2+H2
