I am taking speech this semester, our next speech coming up is a demonstration speech and I have no idea what to do. I know what a demonstration speech is, I don't need the definition, I need some good ideas of what to do. I don't really want to cook anything because our teacher said if we do we must make enough to share with the whole class. Thanks in advance

I recently used this tutorial for demonstration speech topics at http://www.speech-topics-help.com/demonstration-speech-topics.html The author provides more than 50 ideas - also for higher education purposes I think - and examples how to work out your topic statement.
Perhaps this brings you the inspiration you need to make a demonstration speech.

I demonstrated how to taste wine, while revealing the etiquette of opening a bottle (I let some do it theirselves following my instructions) and the mysterical language of a restaurant wine card.

Also I learned them how to understand the meaning of some frequently used wine label terms by doing quick Q and A.
One example: "What does Appellation Controlée means on this bottle label?" Answer A, B or C?
I ended with a toast.

Duration: ca. 10 minutes interaction and demonstration (minus the applause)
An idea for you?

For my college Scientific/tehnical writing (oral, written & demonstration) final I taught hte class about maddage thereapy and gave maddages to several people (short back massages - nothing inappropriate!). Or a demo in martial arts (if you know any - I've used this as a demo too) Is it just a stand up and make a speech or do you need visuals? You could talk about how a book is made or a car engine works or pretty much anything that interests you. the idea is to get the class interested, even if for just the time you are giving your speech. I'm not big on assigning students something that they have to go out and buy materials.

I finished a Speech class in August and did well. I gave an Informative speech instead of a Demonstrative one but maybe I can still be of help. What do you know? Is there something you already know how to do that you can show to the group? Is there something you're interested in that you can demonstrate? What are your hobbies? Any land sports? Do you know how to set up a web site? Is there something you feel strongly about that can be demostrated? Caring for or training a pet perhaps. I bet there's something there if you stop to think about it. I hope I've inspired you or at the very least have given you something to ponder.

Try demonstrating something like folding a napkin for fancy dinner parties. I showed my class how to draw a bunny using the blackboard. Maybe you could show the correct way to set a table? Don't worry, you'll do fine.
