Why do Americans think they are the only country with freedoms?
A lot of European countries would be just as good...just different. Some Asian countries (OK, only Japan comes to mind. Maybe Singapore since I don't chew gum or graffiti tag), and some African Nations are ok to live in (maybe not...what do I know).
For me, I am a US citizen living in The Bahamas and I want to move the The Netherlands next.

Canada is amazing, friendly people who are sociable and don't believe in guns or violence (for the most part). Sweeden and Norway have the best social care in the world not to mention some of the lowest suicde and murder rates in the world. Italy for it's fantastic people and beautiful scenery and fantastic food. Austrialia for making the most wonderful, kind and generous people in the world. Seriously luv, you need to wake up and smell reality about your country (USA). You think you're free, but any society which sends it's police (the feds) to your door to ask you if your going to attend the anti-president rally isn't completey free. Not the mention your god awfull health care system and an environmental policy which in years to come will be the death of all our children.
Then there's the small matter about a society obessed with money and with guns resulting in the highest murder rate of the western world, much more than any other G country.
The only redeeming feature of USA are it's people. American people in general are kind, friendly and have plenty of compassion. Like any nation there are complete morons, but on the whole you're cool. I just don't like the way your government runs your country

Good question!
Once you get a little older say, 35-50 take your savings go south to Mexico, Costa Rica or East to Thailand; start a nice little business and have a much better quality of life.
The people are much friendlier, your savings goes a LOT farther as the cost of living is MUCH less, there are expat communities with English and American people and life is so much simpler.
I love my Country (USA) and I feel very fortunate that I am able to do as I suggested above so, please don't think I am disgruntled; on the contrary, being a citizen of the USA has been a great blessing.

Oh dear mei-lin, since the present BUSH administration is spreading the disease to everywhere, it is hard to find a place you can be in without the influence of that disease! So, the best solution for you is stay put where you are and do your best to change it - you can do it, the people of America can do it. How? By voting for a change of administration, a change of party in Washington D.C. (I don't say the only other party available is any better, but in the present circumstances it is better of the two evils!)
So, mei-lin, start spreading the message from wherever you are on the following lines:
'We need to change America; We need to change the face of America; We need to change the culture of America; We need to change the government of America; We need to change even the constitution of America so as to prevent it from launching any more wars in any part of the world. We need a new America, an America as it used to be, loved and adored by people all over the world!'
God bless you. Cheers!

Whats wrong with showing the faults in society? It doesn't mean people would rather be elsewhere. I think you are confusing that people who try and ignore the faults are good americans.

There "aint no place better." As the song says, "I am proud to be an American." Only those who feel that people are capable of living their own lives would have it any other way. aka, Demortats.

You should try Ireland (I'm Irish), it's great! I work with people from all over the world, andf all of them tell me how happy they are living here. Practically everyone is employed, divorce rates are low, birth rates are high, people are generally quite wealthy, and everyone is really really friendly. House prices are very high though.
