Hi, I'm wondering if anyone out there is from Cordele. I was born there but live elsewhere now. I'm trying to find anyone who remembers some of the places there in the 1960's. My aunt lived & worked at the old Swuanne Hotel. I also remember the old Crisp Theater. If anyone out there knows of these places, please let me know. Thanks!

I had an aunt and uncle who lived there then. Not a lot of specific memories, but ...

- My cousin's wedding at the First Methodist Church.
- Roman candles and sparklers on the 4th of July.
- Oyster roasts in the back yard.
- The tongue and groove pine paneling in their den.
- Going quail hunting in Americus.
- A week or two of summer camp on Lake Blackshear.
- A Christmas spent there when I got an electric train set.
- An elderly cousin's death when she fell down a set of stairs - I was about 12 and found her body ... lots of blood - ugh.
- Gnats - lots of gnats.

Not much help, I'm afraid, but these are a few of the things I remember about Cordele in the '60s.

No, ever heard of Tunnel Hill? That's where I was raised. Not that I'm proud of it, but it's so! I worked in Dalton, the carpet capital of the world....

Outta there now, bettering myself and daughter's lives...
