OOOh . I think it has to be an absolutely golden oldie called 'Ulyesses 31'! I think the Japanese cartoonists modelled him on a certain Mr B Gibb of a certain classic 70's disco band!! It was a fab cartoon based on an ancient Greek novel and set in the 31st century in space. It get's better - as he is accompanied by his son Telemacus and his friend Umi they have a cute little robot companion called Nono . There is also a cracking prog. rock theme tune!!!! Excellent!!!

hmmmm,... Well cartoons are largely a western invention.
Uhmmm Spies are cool, coz the girls are funny and cute too,
As for anime, my all time favorite is Robotech.
Though there are too many short runs of others, even the unconclusive Inuyasha is cool too.
