The Congressional Budget Office study, due to be released today, found that the wealthiest 20 percent, whose incomes averaged $182,700 in 2001, saw their share of federal taxes drop from 64.4 percent of total tax payments in 2001 to 63.5 percent this year. The top 1 percent, earning $1.1 million, saw their share fall to 20.1 percent of the total, from 22.2 percent.
Over that same period, taxpayers with incomes from around $51,500 to around $75,600 saw their share of federal tax payments increase. Households earning around $75,600 saw their tax burden jump the most, from 18.7 percent of all taxes to 19.5 percent.

All I know is that I was able to buy my first home during the Bush administration. It wasn't possible before that.

No! actually my taxes increased, since I live on retirement money I reorganized and cut my own taxes by using money that taxes have been paid and kept taxable income to a minimum. So last year I paid a little over $300 in income taxes. The government can't tax your money twice. Not yet anyway.

That's not true.
The average income house holds saw a net decrease in tax of about 2% over the last 6 years.
You are taking only a part of the budget study to support a point. Use all of the information, or none of it.

Of course they did! Your stats are typical whiny liberal misleading b.s. -- you're citing very broad stats that don't indicate anything about individual situations. The reason these "proportions" fluctuated is related more to population size than individual circumstance.
Plus, I must ask -- Why should the rich be punished? Look at your own stats, imbecile -- the top wealthiest 21% of the country pays over 83% of the total taxes. Is that fair? Listen, you closet commie, our country is based on capitalistic principles -- it's the reason we're the greatest country in the world. Capitalism provides incentive for achievement in science, medicine, business, and almost every field.
I'm so sick of you ignorant, whiny, unrealistic petulant liberals.

You know what pi**es me off even more about that?
$20 million was spent on trying to find the source of the CIA leak about Valerie Plume. And the FBI and the Bush Adminstration knew that it was Armitage all along.
Your tax dollars at work. Or should I say wasted?

I your stats are correct, then Bush's tax cuts did exactly what they were supposed to do. Bush's wealthy supporters didn't spend millions to get him into office without expecting something in return. They got what they were expecting. And the average retarded voter got his $300 bribe to vote for George. They sold their souls for a few tanks of gas or a few bags of groceries. It's sad really.

I'm not rich but I used to hate paying that 60+% tax.
Now that I am a Redpublican I have met connections at the fundraisers that helped me raise the take home and not pay taxes.

Didn't help me -- didn't help my family or my extended family.
For those who think it is better -- it is just an illusion.... and until you need the services of something that has been cut you won't feel it. Wait until your local library has to shut down, and the closest one to you is 40 minutes away, and you can't get your kid there before her big project is due. Of course, there were many more areas that were cut, that's just one example.

well, since this report from the budget office is due out today, this makes it so that you don't know what it says....since it is dur out, not has been released......so now along with spewing Liberal lies, you are making up stats to try and prove your right. Did you know that in 2004 Bush paid approx. 27% in taxes? yes, I know, he made about 1,000,000 dollars......that is shameful.....until you find out the fact that Kerry, who is all for tax raising....only paid 12.3%.....it is not that are paying less by the tax code, they have better CPA to protect their money.....btw, 5 years ago.....75,600 was paying 30%....so there is another spew misinformed Lib throow to the curb with the lies of the Libs

It certainly did, when I got my first tax cut return of $9.32 I immediately called up my girl and took her to a romantic dinner at Arby's.
People just have to make sure that they don't repeal the estate tax which will put approximately $320,000,000 into the pockets of the heirs of Bush's cabinet members.

We're a Military family, and all I know is that whatever
President Bush has done since he has been in office has helped us tremendously. We have seen far more money coming in, then going out. And my husband has received far more pay raises while serving under President Bush then he has at any other time in his Military career.
