Yes i think it is very overhyped!! As someone who is working in the hotel industry, i feel that the govt is overreacting & blowing ever thing out of proportion!!
They have been anticipating that the entire town is gonna be fully & packed.. but in actual fact we are not even hitting the target set!! With the sky roof hotel room rates & hype about the IMF.. No wonder some of the delegates backed out @ the very last min!
Lets just hope that every thing will go on smoothly thou!

I do agree with you. The preparation is really overhyped and it will definitely affect the business at Suntec city. Just imagine the security at Suntec City and its vincinity, I think people will not feel like going there for shopping until the IMF is over.

I have to agree with 'fishball'.

The term 'Dictatorial Democracy'.

Singapore is being so overhyped about the whole "hosting the single biggest event she has ever hosted" until the extend of forcing it's 4 million citizens to smile together in a campaign. That is so fake.

Even if it is really overhyped, but for security sake, prevention is better than cure. No one would want something tragic to happen and then cry over spilt milk.

Think of yourself as one of the delegates coming to S'pore for this meeting, definitely you will wanna feel secured, especially when you are away in another country!

not really, considering the terror threats that are always there, esp so when there are so many high profile people here. It will be the juiciest spot for the terrorists to strike, and if they succeed, it will be a huge triumph for them considering singapore is abt one of the most safest place here. No stones should be left unturn during this event.
