The ancient Egyptians can be traced to the Semites, a Middle Eastern group of people. There were people in ancient Egypt who were of Black descent there, but they were from further south, from present day Ethiopia. The present day Egyptians are Semites & are related to the Jews, to the Arabs, & the present day Jews look just like their ancestors on the ancient Egyptian motifs. They were Semitic, not of Black African descent, I believe.

I agree wrong catagory, way wrong. Why not try selecting the correct area, which could be Society and Culture. As to 9/11 I think many people were touched by it. Bad situation all around. Ancient Aegyptians were of a variety of races in a region which was blending.

The people of northern Egypt looked just like modern Egyptians. Ancient Egypt eventually included more of the southern Nile, however, including parts of what is now the Sudan. Those people were known as Nubians, and they were black. You can tell the difference in Egyptian paintings and statuary--they painted themselves red, but specifically painted Nubians and others from southern Africa black.
