Education and Modeling are the only ways to change anything.
1. Educate all of the people of the countries that harbor terrorists about what terrorism is and encourage them in their faith so they do not link anti-terrorism with anti-whatever their religion is. Also, these nations should be given the power to take the lead in combating terrorism and shown that they are the ones responsible for the defeat of it instead of a country that is linked with a competing religion, immorality run rampant and is viewed by many (even it's own citizens) as a "busy body" .
2. Create a nation that is truly democratic whose government works for the betterment of their people and the world without a focus on labeling everyone and everything so the labeled can easily be portrayed as good or bad. This utopian nation should also exemplify ethics (not religion or anti-religion) and it's nationals should be educated on their own and other countries' society, culture, beliefs and how to show tolerance in the face of disagreement and not be made to feel that doing so is somehow weak minded and a betrayal of self.
Unfortunately ignorance kills and no one has taken hold of this concept and made world-wide education a priority. Also, this is an imperfect world full of imperfect people who just want to be "right" instead of humble, grateful, supportive, tolerant, loving, kind, long-suffering, gentle, or self-controlled. Call human behavior what you will but at its core it is selfish and we have to make the best of this knowledge somehow instead of denying it constantly or worse yet, ignoring it.
Hmmmm.... ignorance, ignoring
Until everyday people decide to monitor their own behavior en mass for a cause and result greater than themselves and be vocal about what is ethical, logical, and fair and demand that leaders follow these basic rules of civilization the world will remain selfish because the whole is made up of the sum of its parts, generally speaking.
Even the most unselfish are still selfish but blind to it because they can point to things they "DO" that aren't selfish. Isn't a person who does "good" with the purpose of getting something in return still selfish? They may not be looking for money or status in return but how many of us have entirely pure motives when we say or do anything? Is this even possible?
I am sad that terrorism has become linked with nations and religions because it is a small sub-set of these and not representative of the whole nation or religion. All this does is divide the world into little parts more which makes us each feel increasingly territorial, defensive, paranoid, alone, and as if all humans are not equal and sharing the same basic experience.
As long as there is an "us" vs. "them" mentality instead of embracing that humanity is a "we", the world will never find peace or change. Can everyone just stop picking a side and get on the same team? No because the "OPINION" of every individual has been heightened to the level of godhood so subjectivity is what runs the world today instead of objectivity.
Everyone likes to blame others and Bush and Bin Laden are the scapegoats of the world right now. If we can blame shift, we are not responsible. However, the logical progression of that temptation is that we are then rendering ourselves powerless to do anything so many choose simply not to try. Never-the-less, humans have an amazing adaptation ability so what would be viewed 30 years ago as impossible is now accepted as normal and permanent so why care? I don't think it has gotten as bad as that but without some major change, it will -- apathy is so much more dangerous than faith or hate. Faith and hate is atleast caring enough to respond and be part of society even if it has a negative result.

You cannot attack people in their own countries, without provocation, on the pretext of 'terrorism' because it won't work and really is just a lie.
For each act that has been defined as 'terrorism' in a political sense, a real crime has been committed in a civil sense. Therefore, the police work, detective work and community work that we use to protect ourselves and defend ourselves against crime is the best and first defense against so-called 'terrorism' in all cases.
This was not used in the case of the 9/11 tragedies. Correct police procedures, gathering of evidence, and detective work leading to indictments and convictions were not followed, simply because it was called 'terrorism' so there is no concrete fact base, no one apprehended and brought to justice. This is completely against our laws and criminal justice system. Our system of laws should be relied upon to work and it would protect us from those who would terrorize us.
For example, why didn't NORAD or any of our other defenses work that day? There are no good excuses, and the people responsible should have been fired, jailed, convicted and fined, at minimum. Terrorism is no excuse for leaving the entire country vulnerable. We pay our taxes and rely on these people--they should have been held accountable.

He should find the terrorists responsible for the 9/11 attacks. That doesn't mean he needs to send out a whole army, the US has various specialist military units which are trained to find and detain people. Terrorism is something that cannot always be prevented, however in the case of 9/11 it could have been stopped.

you quit focusing on it and protect ur boarders and watch who comes into the country .... the big problem i have with terrorism is that its used to scare people and the bottom line is that it is a pandoras box .... the govt can do anything it wants and anyone who speaks out or resists their will is labeled a terrorist ... dont forget the people that started the american revolution were "terrorists" in their day ... we need to get the hell off of the subject ....taking over the middle east and shredding the bill of rights is not the answer to safety. There are other REAL threats that need to be adressed like the federal reserve board and Chinas straight-up threats to nuke us if we ever interfere with them militarily ... we need to stop worrying about kids making shaving creme and shampoo bombs and start worrying about real world issues ... muslims are much less of a threat than some other things and i fear our govts power and control over us infinitely more than terrorism.

We face 'terrorism' by recognizing the current cause - radical Islam. To blame Bush or Clinton, for that matter, is unproductive.
There are muslims in the world who believe in a literal interpretation of the Koran and would like to install a Caliph (a successor to mohammed, of sorts) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/caliph...... in the Middle East and later the world. This caliphate would be ruled by islamic law called Sharia Law http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/sharia_law.... . Sharia law is incompatible with democracy and the freedoms we enjoy. This whole system is brought about by Jihad or islamic holy war. Jihad is the way of the mujahadeen (holy warrior) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mujahadeen.... . It is also a duty of every muslim. How do we know this is true? The radical muslims tell us this - often. The so called "moderate" muslims are either complicit in this goal, afraid to speak loudly against the radicals or are actually in the minority.

If president Bush have been to have talks with Ahmadinejad, it could sign some thing of the Arab countries that Iran has some form of international status and would desire to legitimize rants approximately Islam taking on the international, a minimum of to different Muslim countries. it could additionally lend credibility to Ahmadinejad and furnish him extra capacity in Iran. at modern-day, if he upsets the controlling Imam's, they'll have him bumped off or particularly kill him. Iran is a Theocracy! without a doubt, the biggest perfect insurance with savour to Iran and the international is to take a wait and notice suggestions-set. One plausible income would desire to be: The voters of Iran might get a case of the nerves and start up protesting. yet yet another, The controlling clerics might toss him out or, Israel would desire to truly guard the accomplished mess. by how, "thinking M" is incorrect! Ahmadinejad is a thug, liar and kidnapper. raising him to the area of toddler-kisser is illogical.

You find them and kill them. That is the only way. We are very tolerant of Muslim people, they live in the US and most live peacefully. Israel isn't a bully, they've not started the wars, they just finish them.
