help! red stain on carpet!?

i have two large red wine stains on my carpet, approx 2 days old, how do i remove stain and smell? ty :>

Wine Away, Mostenbockers Red stain remover both will remove it almost instantly and they cost less than $5. You can find them in the laundry aisle in most discount stores. Don't freak out when you first apply it as it will turn the stain blue, just keep spraying until it completely disappears. You can also make a paste of Borax and water, work it into the stain, agitate with a brush, rinse with water and repeat until the stain is gone. Let the area dry and vacuum up any residue.

Since I like instantaneous gratification and the spray gets down into the padding, I like the first two methods best.

Removing Soft Drink Stains on Carpet Stain Removal Step 1. Blot up as much of the soft drink stain as possible by using a clean white cloth. Stain Removal Step 2. Pour a mixture of liquid laundry detergent and cold water onto the soft drink stain and blot up the stained area again. Stain Removal Step 3. Blot with a clean damp cloth and allow to dry. Test for colorfastness first, get peroxide and dab on the wine stain and see if that works. It should soak the stain and smell right up, if you want a little more deoderizng shake some baking powder on the carpet after it dries and vacum as normal. If the peroxide doesn't do the trick vinegar should.

two days is tough, it has soaked down to the pad. Oxy clean is a good start, but you need something better to completly remove it. Depending on color of carpet, you could re dye the carpet. Though start with a good citrus based cleaner like 'holy cow', you can get it at Walmart. Spray, let set for 30 sec and scrub like hell. Dab the area dry and vacuum any residue.

Spritz with warm water and put a thick layer of salt on top. Ideally this works better if the wine stain is fresh....... worth a try. The salt should in theory lift the stain.

Yes, OXYCLEAN is the best thing on earth for red wine stains.
I spilled it over my sister in law's new sofa at her family's beach house and I drove 90 miles to the nearest "big city" that had it...WORTH EVERY GALLON OF GAS!
I swear, it was like a Seinfeld episode with the marble rye, but alls well that ends well!
BUT!!!! make sure you carefully saturate the area---you do not want to get it TOO WET because too much wet can RUIN THE PADDING AND FLOOR UNDERNEATH and then you're screwed.

all i gotta say is replace the CARPET and it wouldnt be there in the first place if u try using a sippy cup for being so clumsy
