Political correctness is self-censorship. It is choosing not to say something because you don't want to hurt someone's feelings.

My personal belief is that political correctness itself is insulting. It says that the other person is not sufficiently able to manage their emotions and their reactions, and thus needs to be treated like a child.

So, it's not a matter of conflict. It's a matter of whether you are going to say what you want, or censor yourself because you don't think the other person can handle what you would say.

No. Unfortunately the fact that one person has freedom of expression means that everyone has freedom of expression. I may not agree with what one says but I will defend their right to say it.

Yes. You can say political correctness is self-censorship, but it doesn't happen in a vacuum. There are often real social and personal consequences (though not legal ones - yet) to speaking your mind.

Political correctness should never enter into it. It
is a sham, a power trip for the incompitant.
