One of the most forgotten details of the American response in the weeks after September 11, 2001 is that the government of Afghanistan offered to give in to George W. Bush's demands. The government of Afghanistan offered to hand Osama Bin Laden over to the American government, through Pakistan.
Bush refused to take Osama bin Laden into custody from Afghanistan because the Afghan government wanted to negotiate the way in which this transfer would take place. Bush said that he would not conduct any negotiations with the Afghan government, even if it meant that the American government could get Osama Bin Laden as a prisoner. Then, Bush said he'd had enough of talk with the Afghans.
The government of Afghanistan pleaded with the Bush Administration, saying that it wanted to talk to him about handing over Osama bin Laden into American custody. Bush refused. Bush said he wouldn't talk about it. Bush wanted a war more than he wanted Osama bin Laden. Bush made a choice to let Osama bin Laden go.
Why didn't George W. Bush take Afghanistan up on its offer?

It would interfere with their (DUH-bya and Osama's profit margin), it's time to clean house people!, exercise your right to vote during the mid-term elections and the big one in 2008, let's take our country BACK! Power to the people!
That's right, Duh-bya and Osama are in cahoots, think it through people.

Where did you get this information? As far as I have heard, the last opportunity to get Bin-Laden was in 2000. US Intelligence had confirmed and had a clear target on UBL. But because he was "hunting" with a son of an Emir from Dubai, or Qatar, the Clinton Administration did not want to explain the casualty of the dead prince.
Also remember that the Taliban (the Afghan government) gave UBL save haven from 1998 until it fell in 2002. The Taliban would have never of handed over UBL to the US.

That was Clinton. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/9/6/174747.shtml?s=lh.. Now the Dem's henchmen ,Mr.Harry Reid Democratic Sens. Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, Charles E. Schumer of New York and Byron L. Dorgan of North Dakota, are spending their days threatening ABC with possibly loosing their broadcast license if they come into power, over the 9/11 Docudrama showing Clinton's' ineptness prior to 9/11.

Hole #1 - at the time Afghanistan was run by the Taliban (you know that funny group of men into castrating women so they wouldn't derive pleasure from sex?) who helped fund Al-Quiada.
Hole #2 - not even CNN has even run that nonsense since there's nothing to back it up.
Hole #3 - Clinton didn't think bin Laden was dangerous enough to take the Sudanese govt up on their offer to turn him over after OBL a. bombed the wtc in '93, b. bombed the USS Cole, and c. bombed US Embassies even though the government knew who was behind each of these attacks.
I know you're blond, but seriously - wisen up!

Small minded liberal. See, Bush (who is infinitely more intelligent, wise, foward looking, and pragmatic than you will ever be) correctly understood that the long term solution was not to just kill/capture OBL, but to remove the Taliban from power. Of course, the Taliban would not allow a democratic process to take place, that would be against their Islamic fundamentalism. You are right, the Taliban did offer OBL, but only if it was allowed to exist as they were. Correctly, and thankfully, Bush is not a retarded juvenile liberal living in a dream world. He knew that Afghanistan would remain a terrorist training ground. So in went our military heroes.
See, infantile liberals focus on one thing and bi+tch and moan about it if it doesn't happen right away in exactly the way they wanted. Do you think having gotten OBL from the Taliban would have ended the war with the islamofacists? Do you think Al-Zarqawi would not have happened? Do you think the Taliban would have given up their terrorist camps? Simpleton.

I would like to know where you get your information from. Because it is full of bullsh*t. See this is what is wrong with the US today, people like you spreading propaganda without first checking the source or searching to see if it is the truth or someone else just being an idiot. Why not try and gather the truth and then ask a legit question about that.

Because Bush and Osama are freinds . Why do you think Osama hasn't been captured yet? Think about it, Saddam was captured, his sons were killed , and Al Zarqawi was also killed. If they accomplished all of this then Osama should have been captured along with the others!! The United States Government is protecting Osama, that's why he hasn't been captured and will Never be captured!! Stop believing the Bullsh*t George Bush and his followers dish out!!
