Are you crazy? And why are you so insecure about what your wife reads? By the way Danielle Steel books are not romance novels and they are not filth either! Maybe you should read one sometime, then comment on them. Besides even if she does read real romance novels why would it make you feel insecure? Women are romantic creatures, whats wrong with that? Maybe she does want you to be mushy! Would you really divorce your wife because you don't like what she reads? Reading is a great form of entertainment for the mind it takes you to a different place , much like movies do. Do you know they make a lot of Danielle Steel books into movies? Who you be upset if she watched romantic movies too? You sound like a very insensitive man, and I feel sorry your wife!

I think you should get a divorce...not because she is reading romance novels, but because you are the one with some apparent hang-ups.
Yes, she does expect you to ~make an effort~ to be all mushy and sensitive and romantic like the men that she reads about. It's not hard...buy some flowers, sprinkle rose petals on the bed, talk a walk on the beach, light a candle and/or hop in the tub. If you did a few of these things, she might not reach so often for those books that you have such a disdain for.
Men are not natural romantics, so your reluctance to engage in such romantic behavior is normal. But just open up, give it a whirl.

I am a woman and I don't care for those type of novels but the novels I choose are strictly for entertainment and it has nothing to do with wha tI want in my life.
This is far from a reason for divorce or separation. Some women just enjoy reading those books and it shouldn't be viewed any differently than if she were reading other subject areas instead. It's simply a matter of what her taste is. There is no reason for you to be feeling insecure over that and just becasue she is reading that book doesn't mean that she wants you to be different than who you are. Women don't select those books becasue they want somethnig better, they read them for entertainment. She married you becasue she loves you for who you are, not becsaue she wants you to change into something else. Just like she loves you for who you are, thare's no reason why you should have a desire to change what type of novel she is entertained from. The only change that should be made is by you and that would be to accept what she enjoys to read and feel secure with the relationship you have with your wife.

Why do women human beings love reading romance novels? women human beings examine romance novels for the comparable reason every physique reads a singular. they like to be taken away for a jointly as. they like the journey, and exciting of the radical, and there is not any longer something like a good set of characters, and an occasional steamy love scene. How are the lads portrayed in romance novels? Ususally no longer very realistically. the lads are ideals that girls human beings prefer, merely as they are in maximum forms of leisure. (the ladies in playboy do no longer rather look like that, as an occasion.) What characteristics do the lads very own? sturdy, self sufficient, in many cases sort and positively heroic. many times they are mysterious too.

Oh my gosh what a change. I usually only see women on here complaining about the man watching porn. I am a woman and I will tell you it straight. I really do not read romance novels but I think I have the answer. Men are visual they like to look at women. Women on the other hand are mentally turned on. Women can think of a scenerio and get turned on. Women like romance while guys just want to go for the gusto.

Okay, she's READING a book. She LIKES those books, most women do... because we're not pigs like the person who you happen to be. So, you're thinking about divorcing her because she's reading a book about a fantasy world and a world she can escape to to get away from YOU?
Do you read at all?
Yeah, nevermind... you read those dirty magazines. That's worse than any romance novel.
Grow up.
Your wife deserves someone better.

I work for a 97 year old woman. She loves Danielle Steele and that stuff is not filth. I believe it is an escape, sort of like when men sit for hours watching football, baseball or Nascar !!!! If that is all you have to worry about then you have nothing to worry about!!!!!

not to be mean but I find this hilarious. You are either mocking yahoo answers or just really insecure/jealous person. Give her a break...its just a book. The characters are fake! Obviously she wants romance in her life and if your not man enough to give her some romance once in a while then let her have the freaking romance books.

Yikes. I am woman and don't give a crap about romance novels. I prefer reading about real life, important situations and issues. I don't care what some author thinks about romance, its all fiction, and I have no clue what some women get from reading that. I assume they have quite boring lives, possibly boring mates, yet it seems a petty excuse to get a divorce. Maybe its what you both need.

as long as shes not letting the reading get in the way of "your" time then I see nothing wrong with it. A married lady needs a fantasy from time to time and if we get it from a book then geshhh be happy. Have you talked to her about her habit of reading romance books? Ask her to play one out for you, let her guide you and you follow her lead....Now that sounds like fun! Good Luck though....dont divorce her over this!
