I have tried all sorts of things in my home ie. plug ins, diffusers, pottpouri simmering pots, candles, auto timed sprays, etc. and nothing keeps a constant smell. I would like to walk into my home and smell the apple cinnamon scent or lavendar without having to turn something on, plug it in and lite it. Do you have any suggestions or any products that you have used that keeps a constant scent in your home. Mind you I live in a 2900sq ft home.
Thank you in advance for any help you can lend.

Your senses become used to a certain stimuli after a certain amount of time and that stimulus becomes unnoticable (if you don't believe me, try putting a penny on your arm and see how long it takes before you can't feel it anymore). The same is true with the sense of smell. If you are exposed constantly to a certain smell, then you won't be able to sense it after a while. In fact, you'd probably find that you have far too much scent in your house if you were to ask a visitor. You could try the fabreeze plug-in that alternates between two scents to "fool" your senses. Or, you could try the Glade Scent Stories which also has different cartridges.

I've seen scented furnace filters at places like Wal Mart. I also have heard of people putting potpourri in their vacuum bags. I think it's all a bit extreme. I actually think the key is making sure your home is impeccably clean. Otherwise there's no point in all the potpourri and Plug Ins- you're just covering up bad smells.

Also keep in mind that your olfactory sense (sense of smell) gets "used to" smells. So what seems pleasantly scented to you, at some point, will be over powering for a visitor or guest. Every notice those ladies who have been wearing the same brand of perfume for years and years who think they're "lightly" scented, but actually smell like they've bathed in it? Same concept.

I used lavender room/linen spray from Yves Rocher. Also, I like to take baths with lavender oil. If I leave the bathroom door open while I take my bath, I find that the whole house smells of lavender.
