I'm in for a special treat. In just the span of 3 weeks, from Sep.20 to Oct.12, I'm going to see Eric Clapton/w Robert Cray, The
Who, Roger Waters and his Dark Side of the Moon tour, and, to cap it all off, the Stones at Soldier Field. Not only will this be an
incredible 3 weeks, it got me thinking about how great that era
of rock was......let's be realistic...Aerosmith was just a typical
band of the era, and now they are considered rock gods.
Same with a zillion of them. Bad Company and Black Sabbath
got lambasted by the critics at the time, and now are considered
immortal.....then you had Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Zepplin, and so on.
My question is, has rock gotten that bad, or am I just waxing
melancholic about the era? From what I hear, kids today stil listen to Zepplin and Floyd, and the Stones still draw all ages to their
mega stadium concert, so I don't think it's just me.....What do you think? Was that era the singularly finest era in rock never to
be repeated again?

Nope, you are absolutely right!!!!! The majority of rock has gotten that bad. The rockers of today are just merely trying to meet the standards. The rockers of the 60's and 70's SET the standards. And what is the deal with all the screaming, squealing, harsh crap???? That is NOT talent. You don't understand one flippin word they are saying. I don't think they even know what they are saying. With the music of yester year, they may have been wasted out of their mind with alot of the songs but at least you could understand what the heck they were singing. Which was kinda cool because it could be interpreted different ways as far as the meaning.

I just wanna know though if you have an extra ticket????? :D

I was raised on what is now known as "classic rock". So, in my opinion, everything since about the early-mid 80's pales by comparison. The Beatles & The Stones both rank very high on my list. Also, Steppenwolf, Creedence, The Who, Pink Floyd, to name a few. Do you remember Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"? That was a true classic. I'm especially fond of the Southern rock that came out in the 70s. I like the Allman Bros., Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Outlaws, ZZ Top, George Thorogood, etc.

With classic rockers, it comprises some time. First we've those that lived in the course of the classic rock age...they then have a tendency to get keen about in worry-free words track from that form and hate each and every thing else and without delay anticipate that prominent track is merely woman Gaga, Kesha, Soulja Boy and Jonas Bros. reality is that there are various different acts obtainable that share a ton of impacts from classic rock band, the biggest one which they'd nicely be overlooking is Queens of the Stone Age. different are merely posers attempting to slot in to seem cool, especially those that imagine through donning a purple Floyd or Jimi Hendrix blouse that they are cool and wonderful, yet you opt to take heed to their track except their huge hits to be an spectacular fan of the band. yet the following is the biggest ingredient...a similar should be utilized to metalers, indie nerds, and undergrounders. The behaviors are just about a similar.

That was definately the best time for music. I don't think it can ever be equaled, much less surpassed. There will never be another Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix, Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan, John Lennon...and the list goes on. These people are icons, larger than life. Their music will be heard well into the lifetimes of our great, great, great grandchildren and beyond. Timeless music hangs around forever giving each new listener something to relate to.

I have to agree! I just don't see another era like that again. And I count myself among those who lived and experienced it. Bands from that era played with passion and those that sung the songs put their heart into it. It was a volatile time and the events of the 60's had a lot to do with the passions of those in the music industry. And what they wrote and sang about. I just don't see the same fire in today's music.

The Who is by far my fav from that era. I saw Aerosmith last night, and although I have never been a huge fan, they put on the best show I've seen in a while.

i am all for classic rock for some reason the music today all sounds the same theres nothing special about it, when you listen to Led Zeppelin or Iron Maiden or Pink Floyd it really feels like the artists actually took passion in what they did.

There was so much good, original music during that period. There has been good since then, but that era was the beginning, and so it really can't be matched. I envy your concerts, have a great time!

First, I am so jealous. Did you win these tickets or are you rich?
True classic rock, the stuff that will still be around in 100 years are the very few.
The Who, Stones, & that small group is our generations, Bach, Motzart & Beetoven.
