I have a lot of pet peaves that have come out since that day. That's just one of them. "Nine-one-one" is a phone number, as a date it would be September 1, 2001, nothing happened on that day. It happened on the ELEVENTH (11TH) so why do people say "one-one"?
I also have a problem when people call it the "attack on New York." There was no attack on New York, there was an attack on America, in which ONE of the targets was IN New York. You say "The attack on New York" and you totally ignore the people who died in Pennsylvania and the Pentagon.
I heard someon on TV once refer to it as an "incident." I guess my definition of "incident" and his are different, because I believe the root word is incidental, meaning minor. Just a little thing.
Anyway, those are some of my pet peaves, I was just wondering if you had the same pet peaves or if i'm just crazy?

Don't you think we owe it to the memory of the people who died and to their families and loved ones to get it right? I mean if we say "attack on New York" doesn't that leave out those who were killed in Pennsylvania and the Pentagon? Isn't that like pi$$*** on their grave?
