You would think Danica would've been a big help, yet America is still apathetic toward Indy. What do they need to do?

Apathetic? What are you talking about? The Indy 500 is still the most popular race in the world, and most of the other tracks sell out the races. TV ratings are hit or miss but I blame that on the unevenness of the schedule.

If anything, Indy car racing is on the upswing in this country. Although I do agree, the sooner IRL can absorb Champ Car and get back to one series, the better.

As for Danica, the novelty has worn off. Having a female driver really isn't a big deal anymore. Having a female driver WIN will be a big deal, but that won't happen until next year.

I'm telling you why they're going off IndyCar.

The 2006 Formula 1 United States GP was a race of reconciliation between F1 and the fans; this proved to be true, with the GP being a very exciting race, unfortunately ending with a Ferrari 1-2.
So Americans might be turning back on F1 from Nascar, ChampCar or IRL after this year's US GP, which has probably cancelled off the 2005 fiasco.

A little more stability in the schedule and race teams. More teams and bigger fields would also definitely make it more fun. The series keeps losing tracks and moving to new ones, and it was also supposedly going to give American drivers a better chance to get to Indy. How is that working out? Not too good!

they need to get back to where they were before they destroyed their own sport. Splitting into two series... so so so stupid. I love it when sports become victims of their own success. Such a shame, because I would take Indy over Nascar any day.
