my husband and i decided to try and get pregnant. last month was our first cycle. 4 or 5 days before my period was due i started getting terrible cramps, which NEVER happens. i did some research and found that this can be a symptom of implantation. well, 4 days later, i get my period, but it was much lighter than normal. it was more than just spotting, but not as heavy as it typically is. so, for this cycle, i decided to get an ovulation test. yesterday, the test detected an LH surge. but, another strange symptom that i never get at this time of the month are very tender breasts. this normally does not happen until a few days before my period is due, but i am not due for another two weeks, or so. i have not taken a pregnancy test, as i assume i wouldn't have gotten my period if i were pregnant as well as an LH surge yesterday. it is just so frustrating that now that my husband and i decide to try and get pregnant is when my body decided to start changing.

I guess i should add that i have never been on birth control pills. we were always good about using condoms. so, whatever i am feeling is not from stopping the pill.

Your body is screwing with you...not pregnant.

If you have been on any kind of birth control like the pill, it is very normal for you to have all these changes going on. Ovulation symptoms, premenstrual symptoms and early pregnancy symptoms, are all the same!!!! That is why it is hard to tell whether you are pregnant or not. When my husband and I decided to have a baby I quit my bc pill and all kinds of weird things happened to me, like tender breasts when I had never ever experienced that before ovulation or menstruation. After ovulation if your egg and his sperm met, it takes up to 8 days for baby to implant, mild cramping, and very very light spotting for a day or 2 can be signs of implantation, once your baby is implanted, hcg starts producing and it is not until 8 to 10 days after implantation that your test can be positive.

I had implantation 8 days after ovulation and it felt as if i were going to have my period, i had some cramping going on that lasted for 2 days, but I knew I was still almost a week and a half early for my period so I knew it had to be implantation and 8 days after implantation I tested and it was positive. You are just going to have to be patient and let it happen, don't stress out over this, TTC is a real challenge and it is hard for you and your body too.

If you were previously on birth control pills and last month was the first month off them, it could explain the cramps. I never had cramps or pms while on the pill, but did after I went off them while ttc.

However, I would suggest taking a pregnancy test. I had implantation bleeding for two days when I was pregnant. The tender breasts are also a sign of pregnancy. If you're not pregnant, then no harm done and you can continue to ttc this month. If you have another irregular period though, you might want to make an appointment with your OBGYN.

I know everyone likes to say, just quit trying and it will happen. Well, it might for some, but not many. I went to my OB right away and it still took me 8 months to conceive. However, I had medical issues that were preventing me from conceiving. Had I not gone to the Dr., I would still be ttc.

I have the same problem as you do, ever since my husband and I started ttc I get these signs one week before my period is due (I pee a lot, I feel like something in my lower abdomen is a bit loose, very swollen and tender breasts, tired all the time, hungry all the time, my periods got lighter and I spot a few days before my period is due). But so far they have all been tricks my body’s playing on me.
It is indeed very disturbing that now of all times my body is changing, yet in a way it makes sense because we want it so bad.

I hate to be repetitive, but you should check with a pregnancy test. Many women have light periods for several months into a pregnancy and I have heard that pregnancy can turn an ovulation test positive, although I am not 100% sure of that. Good luck!

I know how you feel coz its happening to me 2!!! As soon as we had decided, my body goes mad and gives me pregnancy symptoms when Im not pregnant!!! Ive had it every month so far and it is really dissapointing when I start bleeding again. Im just trying to chill out now and not read too much into anything. This month Ive had cramps, sore boobs, tiredness, moodyness, weird spots on area around nipple and Ive got another week to go before I can test!! Trying not to get carried away but its hard.

Good luck to you, I hope you get all you wish 4

That light period could have been implantation bleeding. I would say get a test asap. I was pregnant but had a miscarriage...anyway my biggest symptom was extreamly sore breasts.

Best of luck...how great if you got pregnant on your first try!

Time will tell you could be.
Mind is a powerful thing too. Maybe your mind is fooling with your body, just in the stress of things.
If symtoms continue contact your doctor and ask for a blood pregnancy test...

Don't get so stressed about it, that can affect your hormones, and your symptoms, even your period. Just let nature take its course, take a test if your period is late.

You need to see the doctor to rule out any problems. Don't just take a home pregnancy test.
