Is he making a persuasive case that Republicans are best on security issues? Or, does "ho-hum" describe your reacton?

kaadbear - I think all he cares about is the opinion of Republican voters now. He thinks History will somehow vindicate him. As for explaining things between election seasons, Bush and Cheney's attitude is always paternalistic -- "trust us, we know best".

I heard a review of his speech this morning, and almost all of his 'specific' examples where misrepresentations (a.k.a. lies).

- The Tribunials he wants to convene are illegal under US and international law, have already been ruled unconsitutional by our own Supreme Court, and our own military does not believe they are legal.

- Claims that he torture used so far has been legal. But, there have been several reported deaths (which is certainly not legal) and he cites no US or international law to back up this claim.

- Claims that information from captives has led to additional arrests. However, all of the specific information he cites (such as aliases used) was already known and reported in publically available documents.

It is something he should have been doing since the start of the war in Iraq. He probably could have avoided many criticisms if he had spoken to the American people more often. Now it just looks like he is giving stump speeches to the Republicans instead of talking to the American people about his policy decisions. This has probably been the weakest area of his presidency.

The latter, I have to say. How embarrassing. The World and 60% of Americans know that he is the reason why we are living in such a violent and unpredictable world. GWB, is a disgrace, I am sorry to say.

He has human beings telling what he would desire to assert he does not dome up with those issues on his very own. I agree that it became into no longer the area for it. His advisors mandatory to be a splash extra sympathic to what & the place is became into speaking, that became into no longer the area to rally help for the Iraq invasion.

About what I expected from him. Before every election he has to elevate the terror levels to make people scared. Scared people tend to vote Republican.

Amazing. Any other democracy in the world would have him kicked out in minutes. He admits to illegally torturing people and he's applauded.
