The phone always rings at the crucial moment. Because the phone only rings when you are 98% through watching a good programme you haven't needed the remote to change channel.

sheesh i lose the remote like every hr its in the bed in the couch in the kitchen and when the phone rings lmao i have to say uhh hold on a sec and i look for the remote like i'm actually gonna find it lol not. so i have to turn the darn tv down manually. Then when i hang the phone up, i'm like oh ma gosh the remote is like right there in my face.

Try and get into the habit of putting the remote control in the same place after use like your coffee table for example then you always know where it is

Well watever u r searching for u'll find it at the end....... (murphy's law) or maybe perhaps ur television doesn hav a remote.... :) my rule "whenver the phone bell rings n u can't find the remote of ur tv to turn down its volume... JUST USE EAR PLUGS!!!!!!!! :)

I have my remote on the coffee table all the time and my kids put them back on there, when they have finished with them. This works for me. I hope this helps you.
OR
If you have the new paper put your remote back near it all the time.
