I have been watching the series of speeches the President has given over the past week, The noticeable fact is whilst the 'friendly' crowds were respectful of the Presidency they were cringing with embarrassment at the man. Anybody else noticed?

No.

But any intelligent person understands that NEO-CONS are a group unto themselves, and not representative of Republicans in general.

What is MOST upsetting is that the Democrats are so busy being DEFENSIVE, they can't get a solid agenda to gether to go on the offense. NEO-CONS have perfected their marketing strategy and psych warfare tactics, and the Democrats are clueless. They were taken totally by surprise, and have no idea how to respond. This scares the wits out of me.

No I did not notice. Further I would contend that your question cannot be separated from politics. The reason is because all opinions of Mr. Bush are formed from a political viewpoint. Except in the case of people who actually know the man personally. Interestingly enough, most people who do know Mr. Bush, including Hillary Clinton, profess that he is a very thoughtful, intelligent, and polite gentelman.

As to your questions about the GOP and the image of the country. If anyone has hurt the image of the GOP it is the members of Congress, and their utter disregard for the will of the American in several areas, most notably spending. The image of the country has not been hurt by Mr. Bush anymore than by any other president. The simple reality of world affairs is that unless we bend over backwards to appease the rest of the world they hate us. If anything Mr. Bush has solidified our reputation in the world by not caving to insane demands, and media pressure that we appease our enemies. In short, unless our actions are directly affecting a given country adversely, I don't care what their opinion of the United States is. They will still trade with us, and they are not going to invade us.

I saw it differently. I see the recent speeches as an attempt to warn all of the dangers of terrorism and the very real danger of expanded war. G.W. Bush has excelled in his Presidency and has dealt with more issues in 6 years than most Presidents in the 20th Century. G.W.Bush shall go down in history as a great American, and he didn't have to get favors from interns to get noticed.

Sorry, no, as a European I don't follow your politics that closely.
But I can tell you this:
Bush has managed that a large number of Europeans, with no special views about the US before Bush, have turned their backs on the US in disgust.

The audiences that Bush speaks to are chosen they are "supporters of Bush." The last thing Karl Rove wants is a hostile audience asking questions of Bush.

I am mortified that this idiot is in power. Not only is he a maniac - his ignorance and incompetence placed our country in danger: 9-11. I think indictment, criminal prosecution leading to his imprisonment for treason would be about the only things that might be able to restore the dignity to America and restore her place as helmsman to the globe.
