Some other people have answered with procedures that are not quite accurate. What you need to do it right-click on the start menu then select properties. Depending on what you have your start menu set up for, either Start menu or the Classic Start menu, click on edit. If you have the standard Windows XP menu you can just click on the Clear List button. If you are using the Classic start menu then you will only have the Clear button next to a description with the recycle bin.

There are always problems when you "downgrade" from a new operating system to one that is two operating systems removed from your present os. I'm not sure why you'd want to go to an operating system that won't be supported any longer by Microsoft in two or three years. Windows would no longer have available any updates for the XP operating system like program patches or security features. Your system would be very vulnerable. Your Windows 7 operating system was built on the same chassis as Windows Vista, so it should be an excellent operating system. Windows 7 is supposed so much better ( faster ) than Vista, and Vista was supposed to be better and faster than XP, so I can't figure out why you want to move in reverse! You didn't say what your sister's laptop specs were, but with Vista, you absolutely needed the same specs as your Toshiba has. With Vista, anything less than 4GB of RAM and less than 2.00GHz dual processors, was a problem. That's why Vista got such a bad rap! You had people with 2GB of RAM and 1.50GHz processors trying to make Vista as fast as XP, but it just wasn't to be. I'd give Windows 7 a chance if I were you and you may just change your mind. Make sure you defrag regularly, keep your hard drive cleaned of unnecessary files by using the "Disk Cleanup" program, and keeping the os updated.

Go to My Computer, then Local Disk (C:), then Documents and Settings, then what ever your account name is (admin or owner is the default I belive), then right click on My Recent Document and send a short cut to your desk top (you may have to change your view options to show hidden folders). Now when ever you want to clear this out jus open that short cut and delete everything in that folder.
