Of course, there's more than one way to do it, but any way you do it should give equivalent answers. I'd start with your expression

(6x + 4x – 10) - (4x - 6x + 4)

and first simplify what's inside the parentheses by adding (or subtracting) terms with x's

(10x - 10) - (-2 x + 4)

then get rid of the parentheses

10x - 10 + 2x - 4

then add terms with x's and terms without x's

12x - 14

and that's probably where I'd stop.

Assuming you don't mean
(6x^2 + 4x - 10) - (4x^2 - 6x + 4) = 2x^2 + 10x - 14

(6x + 4x - 10) - (4x - 6x + 4) =
(10x - 10) - (-2x + 4) =
10x - 10 + 2x - 4 =
12x - 14

(6x + 4x - 10) - (4x - 6x + 4)

(10x - 10) - (- 2x + 4)

Collecting like terms inside the parenthesis

10x - 10 + 2x - 4

Removing parenthesis

10x + 2x - 10 - 4

Collecting like terms

12x - 14

The - outside the second set of parentheses changes all three terms inside to their opposite. So you have:
6x + 4x - 10 - 4x + 6x - 4

Then combine like terms to get 12x - 14

First add all common terms within the parentheses; then add all common terms.
(6x+4x-10)-(4x-6x+4)=
(10x-10)-(-2x+4)=
12x-14

(6x + 4x – 10) - (4x - 6x + 4)
Simplify the brackets first
=(10x-10) -(-2x+4)
Open brackets, please note that negative sign is out side therefore chage sign of all
=10 x - 10 + 2x -4
=12x -14

the method is to bring the x terms and constants together
so
it is 10x-10-(-2x+4)
= 10x - 10 + 2x -4
= 10x+2x -(10+4)
= 12x-14
