You should be ok, however my sister has 3 boys by there father who committed suicide(SO things might be different in that I don't know)and she has been with the same man for 8 years. They have done committment ceremonies for the reason that IF she did marry him she would lose money for her kids, however i'm not sure on what part. So on that note, I agree you should double check on that. Sometimes things change because you are considered a "two income home" then.
