A ring sling or pouch is the best type of sling to nurse in. The nice thing about a ring sling is that it's adjustable and has an extra tail of fabric that you can use as a cover over your nursing baby. The advantage of a pouch sling is that it's small (so fits easily into a purse or diaper bag), and has no excess material.

I have a Maya Wrap ring sling that I really like, but I also fell in love with my Mama Kangaroo mesh pouch that I got last summer when my daughter was 7 months old. I was never able to nurse her in the slings b/c she was such a spitty baby that if I tried to walk and nurse her at the same time, she'd spit up all over both of us - ick! However, I have seen several moms nurse in both types of slings.

I posted links to the websites for both those brands of slings, but there are others, and you can often find them on eBay for a good price.

You can find used baby items on www.craigslist.com. Go to the city nearest you and the baby section. If you're not sure what type of carrier you want, go to a store's website (like target.com), look up the sling you want, and read all of the consumer's responses about it. Reading what others think about a product really helps me be satisfied with the items I buy.

If you're crafty, you can make your own very easily. I did and it takes under an hour to do, here's the website with the directions.

I think that's a great situation! Lucky you!

I love Moby wraps for that purpose. Many different ways to carry baby and several good breastfeeding carries.
