I use a rubber glove. It really does get rid of the pet hairs

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Get rid of your pets.

Just kidding.

Pet hair has a tendency to become electrically charged so it tends to stick to the carpet physically and also because of static electricity. I don't have dogs (my wife is allergic) but my sister has a bunch. When she gets to where the vacuum doesn't do a good job of pulling them out of the carpet she does 2 things. First put a new disposable bag in your vacuum cleaner. This will increase suction. Second, she has an old windex bottle that she fills with water and holds it above her head and slightly sprays so a very very fine mist reaches the carpet. This discharges the static so when you vacuum it should come up much easier. (The steamer would work on the same principle as it gets water on the carpet.)

Try wearing a pair of trainers with rubber soles and wipe your trainers up and down the worst areas several times, the pet hairs will make a pile on top of the carpet, hoover up as normal.
It's cheap and easy!

My vacuum never seems to get all of the pet hair, either. I bought (I think from Target) a broom that has rubber bristles. I brush this lightly on the carpet and it pulls up all of the hair.

first you need some carpet powder designed for pet hair. It will demagnetize which will make it easier to vacuum up. I there are still problems, your vacuum may need to be cleaned. Hair trapped in the brushes will prevent further hair from being picked up.

Either with a rubber glove, probably wet would be easier, or sandpaper works really well and doesn't damage the carpet. If you get a block of wood and a really fine sandpaper. or rubber soled shoes. All these work really well, especially with cat hair.

A good vacuum or a damp rubber gove rubbed over the area - obviously better if a small carpet, not a large one!!

It sounds stupid but if you put on some shoes with grips on the soles and drag your feet across the carpet it really lifts it up. Especially if you're wearing rubber soles!

vacuum really good, several times if needed. The hairs will clog up the steamer.
