When and where were camels first used?

Camels were first domesticated by man about 5,000 years ago. The Arabs first used camels to cross the Sahara 2,500 years ago. The reason being that riding a camel is better than walking in the desert. Camels can store fat in their humps and water in their blood. This means camels get more miles per gallon of water than other animals. This enables them to travel great distances in the desert much faster than a human on foot.

i don't know when, but i'm guessing egypt. also, try studying up on camels in general..... they can store water in their humps on the back, so they don't need to drink very often, and can take people across a LONG way and time, w/o needing to stop..! horses, or ANY other creature (including humans) need to stop and drink water...which is why we have those travelling water containers...what are those called? i forget. anyways... yeah. good luck
