They don't really, it just seems that way because their lives are in the spotlight all of the time. I have my share of problems, as do you and everyone else.

It breaks down into several parts:
1. Everything a celebrity does is held up to a spotlight. Embarrassing things come out quickly when you have little or no privacy.
2. The problem with celebrity is that too many people are telling you that you are more important than the rest of the world. If the celebrity buys into his/her own publicity, it becomes easier to believe the rules do not apply to him/her.
3. Celebrity gives a person additional opportunities to get into trouble.

No. They probably have many problems less because their celebrity status smoothens some things. They may have a few extra problems because their celebrity status can draw crows, which can complicate life a bit.
The big difference is that, because they are celebrities, their events get advertised (this is an intrinsic part of the game). And since readers of people magazines like to feel good about their smaller lives, the disagreeable events get advertised more (see, Paris Hilton arrested for DUI, which makes the press, but when she has a night of fun with guy, it doesn't)

Not sure what I think about this:
On the one hand, I kinda think that they really dont have any more problems than the rest of us. They're just more noticeable, which makes them newsworthy. When some Joe Schmoe gets arrested for DUI...big deal...he's just one of a thousand others who got arrested that night...ho hum. But when Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton, etc. get stopped, it's NEWS! (Especially when you consider that they generally have several paparazzi following them around, hoping for that one great photo that's worth thousands of dollars to "National Enquirer")
On the other hand, they have much more money to indulge themselves with. And also (as screenwriter William Goldman wrote in his landmark book "Adventures in the Screen Trade") celebrities live in a world in which everyone around them caters to their every whim. Nobody ever tells a celebrity "NO!" And oftentimes when celebrities DO get caught, then their agency's lawyers immediately go to work on "damage control", and exercise all the power, money, and influence they have...and oftentimes a "punishment" will be used to further a career. A celebrity will be sentenced to community service, for example, and you'll see video footage on the next "Entertainment Tonight" of this wonderful humanitarian, doing "volunteer" work at a soup kitchen for kids, etc.
Maybe they actually DO have more problems than the rest of us. Can make myself believe either side...

I don't think they have more problems, they have more money and people to take care of most anything they want done for them.
The problems they have they create for themselves. Wouldn't you rather worry about being on the worst dressed list or your movie not doing well at the box office than how to pay your bills next month?

It isn't that celebrities have more problems than non-celebrities, it's just that they are constantly in the public eye and being critisized every minute of every day.

Do they? Or are they just publicized more? The only obvious problem I can think of that they have over non-celebrity people is paparazzi.

Honestly I don't believe that they have more problems then us. It is just show-in in the public eye a Lot more then what our problems are. But as the old saying goes more money, more problems. It's just kinda the way it goes.

You only hear about the problems. It's pretty boring to read that Elijah Wood had a nice breakfast and played racquetball.

Well because every thing they do is followed by the press and they also have so many things to do at once that they get stressed. Plus also thier fans who keep bothering them.
